Person-centred Counselling

I am a creative therapeutic counsellor and have a good understanding of working with young adults and the challenges of student life, experiences of working with self-harm, suicidal thoughts, exam stress and anxiety, family life, friends/peers, bullying, autism and ADHD.

Working as an affirmative therapist within the LBGTQ+ community gives the client a safe space to explore their thoughts and feelings around their self-identity.

Within my years of experience in working in the domestic abuse sector and supporting adults at different stages of their journey, understanding that domestic abuse can affect anyone regardless of their gender and also supporting adults of childhood trauma with domestic abuse and sexual violence.

One of my passions is to work creatively and this is one of the ways we can work together to express our emotions when we struggle to find the words, this can be beneficial to younger clients as they are able to express their feelings through the art, some examples include working with sand, or paint and exploring pictures/photos.

Hi - My name is Dianne Foy and I am an autistic/ADHD person-centred counsellor working in Renfrewshire, just outside Glasgow. My motivation to become a counsellor was my own experience of the power of counselling to deal with mental health issues and adverse life experiences. The more I understood about the connection between my current circumstances and my past, the more I felt equipped to process these experiences and face future challenges. As a late-diagnosed neurodivergent person, I have an insight into the difficulties that this can bring to everyday life. Being a counsellor allows me to work alongside clients as they gain a deeper understanding of themselves.

Friendly and confidential counselling service with sessions offered in-person, online and over the telephone. My aim is to help you identify your issues and goals, and to help find the best solutions for you at your own pace. I work with a variety of issues including anxiety, low mood and depression, anger, low self-esteem, PTSD and complex trauma, and unwanted behaviours such as overeating or self-harm/self-sabotage.
