Exploring the story of your life
There is an opportunity to explore the story of your life, the situations and various relationships that have influenced your self-view and your world-view. Many of us had to adapt our sense of self as a child to get our needs met. As an adult we may come to find that these coping strategies no longer serve us and have now become an obstacle to living the life we would like.
Past, Present and Future
We may talk about how you’re feeling today. Where and how we find you in your story and how that is impacting your current life. We may talk about the future. Does it seem bleak and meaningless? What are your hopes and dreams, your soul purpose? What does your heart yearn for? Where would you like your story to go? These past, present and future perspectives are all intertwined. As we explore your inner world, we can begin to understand the story arcs that thread through your life, finding an increased sense of personal power that lets you begin to shape your own life and the world you live in.
Embracing Difference
Your well-being includes all your parts. Your physical, mental, emotional, spiritual, and sociocultural aspects all play a role in how you're feeling. I practice with a commitment to be inclusive towards diversity; working with people from marginalised groups with a view to accept and celebrate difference in our communities. I offer a space where cultural differences such as race, gender, sexuality, class, disabilities, ageism and neurodiversity can be discussed openly, honestly and candidly; exploring the suffering experienced by being culturally othered as well as finding a sense of personal power that lies within these differences.
Working Creatively
I am open to exploring the rational and non-rational parts of ourselves, including that which is unconscious and perhaps even broken hearted. There is an opportunity to use creative means to dialogue with the parts that are hard to reach including through myth, poetry, art, imagery and dream work. This may invite a poetic sensitivity into the weaving narrative, allowing you to reconnect to your longings, your dreams and fantasies.
My hope is for you to come into a deeper nourishing relationship with yourself and your inner world. To gain a better understanding; learning to hold, encourage and support yourself as you navigate your personal life. To realize your capacity for creativity, curiosity and wonder in the world around you.
