Counselling is about seeking change, trying to resolve some issue that you may or may not be able to name and I'm here to help facilitate that change.
The first step is by starting to build relationship between the two of us, developing trust and a confidence that enables the work to be done.
Working together, we will explore what is going on for you and discover what you wish to do about it and how you might achieve these changes.
It's not an easy journey and is rarely pain-free but my role is to accompany you and lessen the burden.
Based in Brentford, I work online and face to face in Ealing with availability during the day and evening. I currently have some concessionary spaces available.
Please ring for an initial 15-20 minute conversation to get a feel for each other so that you can decide whether you want to start counselling with me and I can think about whether I can help you. I will listen to what you have to say in a supportive accepting manner. I will explain how we could work together.
My core training is as a person-centred counsellor. In brief this means that I think the relationship between counsellor and client is key, that we need to establish trust between us for therapy to work. I will hear what you say, not just listen, but really pay attention and I will do that without judging you or otherwise making you feel uncomfortable. In time this will enable you to feel safe enough that you can talk about anything.
We will talk about what brought you to therapy, a little bit about your personal history and whether you’ve tried counselling before. You may have a particular aim to reach for in therapy. The first few sessions are about establishing a relationship, settling in to counselling and getting used to the process.
Do look around my website for more details of me, the person-centred approach I follow, and how it all works.
