Introduction:
Hi – My name is Dianne Foy and I am a person-centred counsellor based in Renfrewshire, just outside Glasgow. My motivation to become a counsellor came from my own experience of receiving counselling. The more I understood about my current circumstances and past life experiences, the more I felt equipped to process these experiences and face future challenges. Being a counsellor allows me to work alongside clients and empower them to reach their own goals.

Introduction:
I come from a military family background and served in the Royal Engineers till I was medically discharged. I became a therapist to help people of all ages to learn to understand and manage their lives, emotions and feelings.

For a long time I believed in keeping emotions and feelings to myself because that’s what I was taught to do, and if you cried, you were not considered a man. I have learned to let go and share the way I feel, and yes, I cry too, and without feeling ashamed.

Feeling Down?

Stressed, anxious, depressed?

I can help.

We all have our “stuff”. Even aside from the current pandemic, life can be hard. Pressure of work, relationship difficulties, painful memories or trauma, feelings of worthlessness, difficulty sleeping: modern life can feel overwhelming. Just like our physical health, everyone has times when their mental wellbeing is not at its best.

Counselling can help you manage and move on from mental distress and reclaim a sense of joy in your life. I offer a safe, confidential and compassionate space for you to explore your inner life, and an awareness of up to date psychological and neuroscientific research that can help you move beyond your current problems in a short time frame.

Why not send me a message via my website (see link below) or give me a call on 07935 148013 for a free, confidential chat, to see if we can work together to help you find a more untroubled and peaceful life?

About me
Safespace Counselling Durham

session information

The work I do is intergrative meaning that I use a range of methods and techniques to help you with your presenting issues. However, when accessing counselling the work we do is lead by you and at a pace that suits your needs, as no one knows you better than yourself. Counselling can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience allowing you to understand your behaviours and find solutions to your issues through challenging your thoughts and behaviours, learning and practicing coping methods and building emotional resilience.

In sessions with children, I often use creative aids to help in the work we do, such as painting, using stones, Lego building or playing games. This helps when processing information and can give visual representation to the emotions we are feeling. I also use some of these methods with adults if they feel this is something they would like to do.

All sessions are based in a mutually agreed safe space, and everything shared in session is kept between yourself and I, within the bounds of confidentiality and its limitations.

Accessing counselling for yourself or your child can be a daunting process and I want to make your experience as smooth and beneficial as possible. So, if you have any questions around counselling or the services I offer please visit safespacedurham.co.uk which offers information on the services I provide, or contact me via email or telephone.
