session information

The work I do is intergrative meaning that I use a range of methods and techniques to help you with your presenting issues. However, when accessing counselling the work we do is lead by you and at a pace that suits your needs, as no one knows you better than yourself. Counselling can be a rewarding and fulfilling experience allowing you to understand your behaviours and find solutions to your issues through challenging your thoughts and behaviours, learning and practicing coping methods and building emotional resilience.

In sessions with children, I often use creative aids to help in the work we do, such as painting, using stones, Lego building or playing games. This helps when processing information and can give visual representation to the emotions we are feeling. I also use some of these methods with adults if they feel this is something they would like to do.

All sessions are based in a mutually agreed safe space, and everything shared in session is kept between yourself and I, within the bounds of confidentiality and its limitations.

Accessing counselling for yourself or your child can be a daunting process and I want to make your experience as smooth and beneficial as possible. So, if you have any questions around counselling or the services I offer please visit safespacedurham.co.uk which offers information on the services I provide, or contact me via email or telephone.

Introduction:

Occasionally it helps to review and reflect on life’s pathway. It can be hard to do this by ourselves, our friends and family may feel too close to confide in. It can be helpful to explore our feelings and emotions in a safe, non-judgmental environment, I can provide this in a relaxing, quiet therapeutic space in Devizes.
I welcome initial conversations with anyone who is looking to explore how their life journey and experiences may impact their current emotions and behaviours. It can help to understand where we have been to enable us to create an ongoing path.

Introduction:
I have been qualified as a counsellor since 2000; I specialize in anxiety, panic, shame, depression and trauma.

We will meet in my comfortable counselling room in my private practice in Loughborough. This is a safe place for reflection and exploration; I have created a place for you to feel confident to work in confidentiality. I will be non judgmental, offer support and guidance, provide knowledge and psycho education and info graphics.

We have to free ourselves to be ourselves. Living an authentic life and being our authentic self.

I work with Abuse and Trauma; childhood, sexual and violence. I can provide strategies to cope and heal what you have suffered. The effects of trauma can be life long and debilitating. Often drugs, self harm, alcohol are used to ease the pain and suffering. I suggest you may not go back to how you were before the trauma, but when you can manage your reactions, you can do anything you want to.

It may be hard to make the first move for therapy, but you have looked at my profile and the next step is easy; you have already achieved a goal. Have a look at my website for details and more information about the issues I can work with.

I am a graduate in Human Communication and have completed a Counselling Certificate and Diploma.

I offer specialist knowledge in Fertility, Post Natal Depression and Hypnobirthing.

I have studied shame and how it effects humans, and how it affects trauma survivors. It is something we do not want to talk about because it hurts. Guilt also comes up and the two can be confused. Guilt tells us we have done something wrong which we can correct, however shame tells us we are a wrong person which we cannot correct.

I work with shame and have strategies to survive it.

Introduction:
In the waves of change we find our true direction

Sometimes, when everything feels like it is in flux, we have an opportunity to become who we are meant to be.
We are very rarely just one thing because we do not fit into boxes even though society often tries to squeeze us into certain ones. We exist in different roles, different space and different relationships; we are messy. This can often lead to tension within ourselves as we try and fit into who we think we ‘should’ be.

Lots of us spend a great deal of energy hiding the parts of ourselves that do not fit, pretending that everything is ok, when really we know that we are not being true to ourselves. This might be interests that you do not pursue, relationships or jobs you stay in even though they no longer make you happy, or even a denial of part of your identity that feels too difficult to let out.

Counselling can provide a safe place to become curious about yourself and your life. By working with someone who is impartial and only interested in supporting you to make the right decision for you, it can be easier to tune into your own sense of self rather than other people’s expectations.

By understanding and acknowledging the different aspects of our own identity and how they interact with each other and different areas of our lives, we can begin to make choices about who we want to be.

Any change can feel difficult and will cause ripples in different areas of your life, but when you feel secure in who you are and what is important to you, it becomes easier to start living the way you want to.

Introduction:
I am a humanistic counsellor, which means that I believe you are the expert on yourself and my role is to facilitate a non-judgemental, empathic space in which you are able to find your own truths. I work mostly from the ‘inside out’, meaning we explore what’s at the core of you and how this might impact your present life. Getting to know what drives our feelings, thoughts and behaviours can help create meaningful, long-term change. I work integratively and creatively, drawing on modalities that are most suited to you.
